I have a Hotpoint Electronic 1000 De Luxe 9535 and need to change the rubber seal. I can purchase one but need to know how to get to it. Any help would be welcome.

The information given below to effect this repair is spot on. Although the model that I worked on was a 9537 (not 9535), the instructions are exactly the same. I followed each step as instructed and it took me approximately 30 mins to complete. Very straight forward. Try it, you will be suprised how easy it realy is. Thanks very much.

I did it eventually. I might add I am a 52 yr old woman living alone and feeling very proud of myself.
For anyone else who has the same model...ensure machine is unplugged. Remove retaining clip around seal on door, slip seal from door.
Take off top, there are 2 screws on back for this. Remove soap drawer, unscrew 4 screws. Loosen screw holding control knob and slip knob off. Unscrew one screw keeping panel on. Remove panel, taking care with wires.
Remove front panel by unscrewing 3 screws on top and bottom, swinging panel carefully to the right.
Seal on drum will be visible now and retaining ring easily reached. Unscrew screw and slip ring off. Ease rubber gasket from drum.
Fit new seal over drum. I simply reversed all instructions and it works a treat. Saved me a fortune Phil !! :)
