Have I got got a faulty programmer?

Have just replaced a Siemens RWB2E programmer which was a direct replacement which was giving trouble, plugged straight in and has been working for a week OK, now the clock has been stopping erratically and throwing out the timings? Is it the programmer?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check it's properly secured on the back plate.
Check the integrity of all the wiring connections in the backplate.
Check again the incoming L and N connections as the timer is mechanical, driven by an electric motor.
Maybe even check the mains isolator or fused wall plate connections.
If it still gives you grief, return under warranty.
