Retrieving object behind Rangemaster cooker?

how can I retrieve a place mat which has slipped out of sight behind my rangemaster oven and the wall.

You're going to have to slide out the cooker. Get something under the front feet so the flooring is protected when you slide. You might find a litter picker is useful. Possibly a blob of sticky mastic on a stick might be useful.
