my gilera is dead help please?

i was on my way to work and the bike popped lost power and continued to pop and lose more power the more i gave it throttle ? i have not used the bike for 2 weeks and the battery
was totally dead no lights or any thing i charged it and thought once it is going it will right its self also the starter button does not work even thoe both switch gears are 4 months old is this due to battery being flat any ideas would be great

rich the lights should work regardless of the state of the battery,i would suggest a new battery anyway if its faulty they are only about £15 all depending on the model of your gilera?but as dave says its a good chance the spark plug is fouled and a new one is a very good idea they are only £3.00 so get a new battery and new plug and see how the bike goes ok.the plugs do not last especially in the two stroke 50cc models as these burn alot of oil and it fouls the plug alot,ok.
