year 2000 renault clio 1.2 grande will not start, has been standing for 1 month without use. the engine turns over but does not sart. have tried the battery, the spark plugs, the motor, the engine management system and the immobiliser. cdannot get it to start at all!

this happened to me.. my engine was just running over . Turns out I had to use the spare key and it starts no problem.
The normal key wasn't disabling the imobiliser.

"clio's were bad for water leaking thru the sunroof into the transponder for the immobiliser and corroding the circuitry, it's worth checking yours to make sure its not the key thats at fault. If it is a water leak its very easy to replace the transponder, which is in the pod in the headiner, but its not so easy to cure the leak...could be looking at replacing the sunroof frame."

I have had the same problem with my clio RN club med 1.2, water was dripping from the head unit and i suspect my reciever/transponder is dead. George, any ideas how i replace the transponder?

has it been in a bump or had any impact only it could be that the fuel cutoff switch has been activated press the fuel cutoff reset button and try it again
