whilst excelerating it miss fires ive changed plugs and air filter. any ideas on what it is???????

it could be the coil pack (not sure what year rover changed from dizzy to a coil pack) is the car overheating? other than that look in the oil filler cap, does it look like mayonnaise? if so it could be the head gasket (rover K series engines are notorious for blowing headgaskets
