when i turn oven on you can't hear the gas trying to ignite any more.

Hi Molly,
Try lighting with a match.
Also make sure that the timer has not moved from man to auto...this is a very common problem.
If you still have a problem, I'm afraid you must get a corgi engineer to repair it.
