Hi Angie

I've got a Rover 45 & there's a few things you can check. The first thing to check is that all six hazard lamps flash once when the alarm is unset and three times when it is set. Also, when you press the keyfob to set the alarm a red LED by the speedo should flash rapidly for a minute while the alarm sets then just blink slowly. If any of these lamps is not performing as above you've probably got a blown lamp or fuse somewhere, a wiring problem or a fault in the alarm itself - which is the most difficult thing to fix.

However, there are two things that often set these alarms off. A draught past the ultrasonic sensor in the driver's door jamb is one - try sticking selotape over the whole sensor & if it fixes it you need to check your windows & doors are sealing properly & maybe even shut off the vents. With mine the back windows weren't shutting well enough.

The other common cause is the battery voltage dropping. The lamp in the boot was staying on in mine & that set the alarm off so try taking the bulb out & switch the courtesy light above the rear view mirror off and see if it is fixed. It might also be worth checking your battery is holding a reasonable charge, depending how old it is.

The only other possiblility is a fault at one of the switches so maybe inspect the bonnet, boot & door switches thoroughly & get someone to sit in the driver's seat with the ignition on to confirm the warning lights go out.

Hope you manage to sort it from this. Twice I've had the same problem caused by something incredibly simple so it's worth having an investigate. Good luck!
