Punto clutch? Gears always crunch?

Punto JTD 3 yrs old 56k
Occasionally Gears have crunched when going into reverse throughout the life of this car, but now even when concentrating and fully depressing the clutch pedal I get a small crunch in ever gear.
I have never had any problems with the clutch slipping, so I don't think it's a worn clutch plate.
Can anyone suggest what I can do to rectify this please?

Thinking back to when I used to have a bravo I had the same problem..... first check if the car has a hydraulic clutch, i.e a little cylinder on top of the gear box, there may be a small leak you will see this as a small dribble when the clutch is depressed. This is a common fiat problem on bravo brava marea some puntos and other hydraulic fiat systems. Try topping up your brake fluid as this is often shared on hydraulic clutch systems and pump the clutch a few times. You may need to change the slave cylinder if it is leaking, this is quite straight forward too, but may just need a top up.

If it has a cable type clutch (not sure on this year/diesel) then there are two bolts on the end of the clutch cable with a ball type head. (have someone push the clutch whilst you look under the bonnet. All you need do is tighten these higher up the thread. It seems that you're not quite getting enough clutch clearance when changing gear.

Hope this helps.
