how do i remove and fit a fan belt in a 1996 renault clio?

fan belt is slipping. How do I change/adjust?

find a decent gap so that you can fit the metal bar, then using your foot to push the bar keeping the alternator tight, tightens the bolts! it can be done! trust!

First you need to locate the alternator just under the cam belt, drivers side bottom of the engine. From here theres 2 bolts up the top which need to be removed so the alternator can swivel thus loosening the old belt, remove the old belt, put new one on and pull alternator back so new belt is tight. Then redo bolts and hey presto. You may need a second person to hold the alternator tight to make life a bit easier.
