vauxhall astra 1.4?

why does my engine cut out while driving. some times miss firing.

My girlfriend had a simliar problem with her astra 1.4 turned out to be be the starter motor. something to do with the electric charge when starting up. Strange really as hers cut out whilst driving but this sorted it in the end.
