I have a problem o the front brakes of m Ford Escort mk5. The problem is that the front off side calliper Does not release after brakes apllied. Changed master cylinder. Changed calliper. Al system has been bled All new fluid in system. Still the same problem. All my years as a mechanic I have never come across this before

I once had a problem with brakes not releasing, It was the air vent in the resevoir cap, a bit of dirt had blocked it.(this was on a mk11 escort, I don't know if it's relevent to a mk5)

hi, did you fix the problem? am wondering as i have 95 escort 16v zetek with same problem. i have put on new calliper, discs, pads, and flexi hose but still cannot get them to work properley. when i bleed brake there isnt a lot there to start with but when they have been used several times the same brake starts to stick on and brake pedal gets very hard to press. several mechanics have looked at it and cannot rectify problem

only first year motor vehicle student but did quite well in brakes section and exam but not the same confidence but think its the pistons in the wheel cylinder and the seals are gone the valve in the cylinder push out to lock on the caliper but if bust and leaked any fluids from seals will not return thus once the pedal is depressed the pistons stay out costantly keeping constant pressure to caliper so that cant be reased most wheel cylinders consists of two pistons it can only take one not to work and you will get this effect why you havent probably experienced it rarely happens for what it cost change it rather than strip cylinder to check remove seals get some one else to press brake and you will see if pistons stick
