Dyson DC03 cable repair?

The site mentioned cannot be reached. Anyone ideas how you get in to the cable housing to check connections?

Get two old sturdy kitchen knives. With the dyson facing you, push the blades down each side of the yellow switch about half way along the sides with the tips going down about 2-3 centimetres at the back. There are two lugs at the bottom and back of the yellow switch. You need to then push the blades into the middle to release the lugs and then the switch will come off - I've just done it three times so I know it works. If you want to see pictures of the switch, google cable repair dyson dc03. You might get better instructions on www.crazysquirrel.com/diy/dyson/flex-repair-on-a-dyson.jspx

Note, the screw on mine was a 5 sided head like cars use, but a small bladed screwdriver worked, when refitting, use an ordinary screw

its easier to drill a hole in the top of the yellow on off switch just big enough to take a star screwdriver. you can then get at the screw which allows the whole assembly to slide out. The only down side is that the hole is a permanent feature, but this is a minor price to pay. The hole is to be positioned in the flat part of the switch in line with (but not in) the thumb press recess.

Theres a little gap down the left of the power button(Viewed from behind the Vac) just enuff for a little tool, which you can buy on ebay, But I use a paper clip. Make sure its a fairly sturdy paperclip, and straighten it out. Put a small 90 deg bend in the end to leave about a 4mm leg sticking out. Then in the same direction, bend the top about 10mm out so you have an un-even U shape. This second bend helps you rotate the clip once you have it down the side of the switch housing. Put the 4mm leg down the small gap sidewards, and once about 15mm down, turn clip through 90 degrees. Your aim is that theres a little latch down there, which clips in when manufactured, your trying to push it back in, so you can lift the switch cover button up and out. Once you have done this, you can get to the screw which removes the whole switch housing box. It takes a bit of practice, and if you lever the housing over a little from the back you should see what your aiming for.
Hope this helps!
