Hotpoint Aquarius 1000 Deluxe takes water constantly?

Hi,
My washer is always pumping water into the drum, even when no wash cycle is selected - left the house and came back to flooded kitchen. Not good. Any simple solution???

Turn off the valves to the hot and cold water when not in use or replace the faulty valve to the washer
