How do I clean my Kirby G6?

My Kirby is dirty and stinky from cleaning my friends house who has dogs & cats. How do I refresh it?

Hello!

I have GENUINE Kirby bag deodorizer in my eBay store....cut and paste the following into your browser to visit me!

There is also a way to clean the cloth bag to remove a good bit of the odor...

Remove the cloth bag assembly from the Kirby by rotating the "boot" away from the machine and pushing the clip release at the top.

You will see a "zip strip/cable tie" like strap that holds the cloth bag onto the boot. Using a flathead screwdriver, pry upward underneath this strip and it will come apart, (don't worry...you can squeeze it back together with pliers) allowing you to pull the cloth bag off of the boot. Don't forget to unhook the black strap at the top of the fill tube that holds the fill tube up. Feed the top clip down through the bag topper to remove the topper.

Now, machine wash the cloth bag on gentle or short cycle and HANG dry. (DO NOT place cloth bag in dryer, as it will melt the rubber at the bottom) Put the boot/fill tube assembly into a sink full of hot water and detergent and clean it up too.

Reassemble the cloth bag and secure it with the bag clamp strap, put the topper back on and reattach the strip that holds the fill tube up.

ENJOY!!

Disassemble the brush roller. Clean the brushes in the sink with hot water and some soap. Pull off end caps and remove debris and oil bearings. Reinstall brush roller with new belt. Remove cloth bag assembly from the machine, inspect the black bag filler tube for cracks, then wash it in the washing machine. Hang to dry, of course. Clean all surfaces of unit with general surface cleaner. When bag is dry, put it back on the machine with a new paper bag. If need be, add some vacuum scent or tablet (I sell both). Give bill of $120 to your friend...just kidding. If you need any help or parts, our email is arctic@worldlynx.net
