why won't my whirlpool washer spin when it does adgitate?

My washer no longer spins during the spin cycle. It seems to do eveything else but now just squeaks when it should be spinning. Please help.

Is this a belt drive machine or a direct drive machine as they make both. If it is older (a belt drive) the wig wag coild maybe bad. Please visit helpyoufixit.com for more help
