Will my tappets stop being noisy?

I have a fiat siecento and just had a head gasket repair. Drove it away from the garage yesterday and the tappets were very noisy. Will this go away or do i need to take my car back? It quietens down after driving for a bt but not completely. Louder than what they used to be. Why? And will it stop??

Hi, I have the same problem on my cinquecento, and I've been told that if you've had your oil changed, you must use fully synthetic oil or tappets will rattle. p.s They are hydraulic and there is no adjustment at all

Firstly check your oil level, it may have been overlooked by the garage. If you take the car back and explain the noise they should rectify the fault if the tappets are adjustable. If you have hydraulic tappets and the engine has been apart for several days, air can get into the lifters and will take time to rectify itself. Best of luck...

It wont go away, the 'tappets' proper term is the Valve Clearances, they have not been set properly,it wont get better it will cost you in fuel, performance, and noise.Take it back.It will Not Get Better.Rich.
