Heater fan not working?

Volvo 340 1700 F-reg: The heater fan works when I connect direct on to a battery. However, it will not work via the switch in the car. The relay switch situated in the fuse-box appears to work ok - not sure where to look next. Is there another relay control switch or other componant that controls the heater fan??

The fan works through a resistior pack which is found inside the heater box in the engine bay, the heater box is in two halves which can be split by taking the small clips off, in most cases the fault is to do with the resistor.
