how do i stop my fan belt squeaking on merc 208 sprinter van?

the fan belt is squeaking on my merc 208 sprinter van, 2000 model. the belt is new and in good order, the belt is tight enough and the noise doesn't get worse if more electrics (eg lights) are switched on.

I have a 98' Dodge Ram. I had the belt replaced, still squeeks. Don't use a bar of soap, 3 in 1 oil, degreaser spray, belt conditioner, or WD-40, it will still squeak because of the build-up on the belt, as well as the pulleys. Take the belt off, clean the pulleys with carb spray, and a wire brush, then replace the belt. Make sure the spray you use is dry before starting the engine (to avoid electrical combustion).

a little brake fluid goes a long way - use a few drops on the belt. the belt becomes glazed over causing squeeks.
