recently bought a fiesta courer with endura de lump, it seems to run a bit cool-the temp gague barely gets to the normal bit but wen left stationary the gague goes nealy three-quarters befor the fan kics in the gague the drops as it shud. the coolent is toped up and thouroughly bled out. any sugestions-anybody know the open point of the stat. cos it aint in the haynes book

Seems like the thermostat is stuck open or it hasnt got one in,take the stat housing off when cold and see if its shut,I guess it is either missing or stuck open,either way buy a new one they cost only coppers(you cant fix them) If it is missing put one in but run the engine to normal temp as you may have a fault that someone was trying to cover up by removing it in the first place,unless it was a very hot summer.TAKE THE OLD ONE OUT AND REPLACE IT OR FIT ONE IF ITS MISSING.YOU ONLY NEED TO TEST IT IF THE PROBLEM IS THE OTHER WAY ROUND i.e.its not opening and you overheat just down the road.Dont waste your time and effort a garage will charge you lots.CHANGE IT!!!
