Is the ldv400 2.5 td 1996 ok to use neat cooking oil if not what would in have to do to convert it or what mix would be best suited

i know someone who mixes diesel and veg oil at 50/50 and has not had a problem. infact he says he gets more miles per gallon. but beware, you can be done for not paying duty on the veg oil as it is classed as fuel. the same chap used to mix diesel and old engine oil at 50/50 and ran ok but done his injector pump in. diesel is the best fuel for a diesel engine lol

OMG no offence m8 but did u not read what,s written above diesel engines run better on vegi oil and thats the truth in some cases it may need preheating or thinning out. I know this cos my diesel generator been running on it for years .However do not use in your car becuase thats tax dodging .We havent switched to vegi oil because the sale of crude makes the world go round

by the way (and with all due respect)...the first diesel engine was designed by Rudolph Diesel to run on peanut oil...it was only when one of the major petrochemical companies got a hold of the design, tweaked the system and (allegedly) murdererd Mr Diesel did the engine begin it's life as a major polluter and threat to humanity...they then named their heavy oil - derived fuel after the deceased engineer to ensure that any links with other forms of friendlier fuel were long forgotten...resurrect Rudolph, I say.

forget it a diesel will not run on cooking oil,it,s too thick,it waxes too easily and they are not designed to run on it,it,s a rumour put about by somebody who dropped a b*llock by buying a million gallons of the stuff and is stuck with it
