How do I change the cover gasket on ford escort zetec engine?

What is the best way to change the gasket that sits at the top between the head and cover. This is a Ford escort L reg, 16 valve 1.6 with the Zetec engine.

Disconnect negative lead from battery terminal for safety reasons - remove air inlet duct by removing two bolts, lossening jubilee clip on air inlet pipe and sliding duct from pipe - disconnect accelerator cable from throttle housing and undo support bracket (allen key needed). Move the cable and bracket away from cylinder head cover - remove HT leads from head cover - remove upper timing belt cover (two bolts) - take out bolts from head cover and remove cover. Job done.
