It allows you to remotely control your home PC from anywhere around the world, it's very cool.
But do be careful with Dameware, it's a hackers dream.

you need to make sure that you have simple filesharing turned off *under tools/folderoptions/view* and you also have to add an entry into your exceptions list for port 6129.
