Sounds like the tape has tried to eject a couple of times unsuccesfully (tapes can have trouble deinterlacing from the drum if they've been stop-started a lot during filming). If you can, fast forward the tape to the end then rewind fully. Try to eject the tape. If you manage to do that, power down, remove the battery, wait a couple of minutes, replace it and power up.
