How to gain repair access Tefal steam irons?

Tefal Avantis 130.
Age about 4 years.
Leaking water causing internal shorts sufficient to activate RCD master safety switch.
One security screw in base is the only visible assembly fastener which is easily removed leaving the upper body "hinged" to the soleplate at the front of the iron. Need to completely seperate for examination & repair but no immediately obvious means to do this. Fearful that any undue force may result in breakage of plastic body part rendering re-asembly impossible. Moderate force applied parallel to the soleplate has failed to seperate.
Any general or specific advice welcome.
Thanks

With regard to the Avantis 95 -
1 - remove screw from baseplate.
2 - ease off both steam pump covers and remove exposed screw.
3 - ease off handle cover to expose screw at front end.
4 - remove screw and retaining bracket together with water nozzle .
5 - ease off main housing together with baseplate.
You should now be able to access any internal repairs..

Hi,
Did you have any luck with that ? I have a Tefal Avantis 120 (which is pretty similar with the 130 model, I think) and I'm facing the same problems.

Any advices would be very welcome.

Also.. is there a specific screwdriver that you used to open the iron ? What should I ask for at the hardware store ?

Hi! Try pulling off the steam pump (easy) at front top of iron and you may see a security star screw underneath that holds the front of the base plate....Hope this isn't too late!
