CCD for JVC GR-D21EK?

My JVC GR-D21EK has a problem that I have been told by a local dealer is a faulty CCD. Does this sound correct? Essentially the lens is up the spout. The picture I get through the viewer is a mass of coloured lines rather than a normal picture. When on play mode the picture, previously recorded, is fine. Is this part diagnosis correct? Can I fix it myself, where can I get a part from? I have been quoted a repair cost of £150 . I live near London in the UK. Any responses will be appreciated

I have got my JVC camcorder for couples of years now. It's been working well it was just recently I couldn't see anything from the screen. I sent it to the local technician and told me that it's the screen hinge faulty. the repair cost only £20 but the general cost is £115 which I can't affort at the moment, do you think there's a room that I could do it my self?. Thank you

I just changed one myself. £35 from www.digiservice.com
all you need is a decent 00size Philips screwdriver and a steady hand. Note, I don't do it for living, but I couldn't afford the ridiculous prices for repair. There isn't actually much to remove, although a couple of screws are tucked away.
JVC are still repairing this problem for free as well, but only until the end of this month (July). contact them on 0870-330-5000
