No electricity to Triton T80 Si?

We have a Triton T80SI. The electric supply has failed. It has a Wylex 45amp fuse that is ok. I changed a 30 amp fuse in the fuse box that had blown, but as soon as I restarted the shower the 30 amp fuse began to "fry". I switched off immediately, before it blew. Any ideas what the cause of this could be please?

Bob you were right. I had aloose wire at the board...renewed it now and all seems fine, thank you.

Thank You Bob, the engineer from Triton arrived and tested the shower, after I'd fitted a 40amp Wylex mcb in the fuse box where the 30 amp fuse was. Running OK, but the Wylex gets warm...is it supposed to?
If I turn the electric off at the fuse board, is it ok to take the cover off to check the wire i.e is it dead or do you have to remove the power suppliers main fuse?

Most likly fault is a loose/burnt wire that is feeding the fuse carrier. If you are able ,power off/fuse box cover off check the wire coming out of the fuse it is most likely black. Strip wire back to good cable and renew fuse carrier. Job done

Thanks Bob. I contacted Triton and they said the fuse in the main box should be 40 amp NOT 30 amp. But still puzzled to why it would blow now. I fitted the shower about two years ago.

As from this month the rules for working on electrical installations have changed. I believe they are governed by local authorities Building control department. I also believe that you can do a full installation BUT you must
[a] Notify your intentions to the building control office.
[b] Have the completed works tested before use.

I think you then receive a 'passed' certificate. This cost you but I don't know who much.

What concerns me is It seems funny the mains box fuse blew yet the fuse in the shower unit didn't I thought that was what the fuse was for. Get both the shower and circuit feeding the shower tested. Sorry can't be more helpful but better safe than sorry. Submitted 23rd Jan.
