How can I change SEAT Alhambra headlight bulb?

How can I get to the front light cluster on a SEAT Alhambra [2002]. Manual says that it is 'dealer-only' and it certainly looks tricky. I'm sure that you must have to take the headlamp cluster out as a unit and then change bulbs.

Any ideas?

Yes, very fiddly. I've done the driver side, right looking forward twice, never had to do the left one at the battery. To get the cover off push it in, towards the front, then flick up the clip on top. then twist it around to vertical to get it out.
To release the light bulb clip push the middle of the wire, at the outside of the car, in towards the front, then fiddle it up and down until you find the slot to let it pop out. The bulb will then come out easily.
When putting back on the cover, again very fiddly, get the two extender bits into their holes first at the bottom, then push it at the top towards the lamp, then get the clip back over it. Luckily my fingers are not too big.
Hope this helps

Hi has anyone got a easy way too change headlight bulb on an 07 plate seat Alhambra vehicle???

The string suggestion was inspirational....saved me having to take the battery out.

Good post. Agreed, it was tricky but not too difficult on nearside one. String (or lace here) great tip.
Remove battery cover with two plastic finger bolts.
I found it hard to get the metal clip off the back of light unit and resorted to big screwdriver which scratched the cover a little. Get the string on the clip now otherwise it tends to hide!
Then pop and slide the cover sideways away from battery to get it out. Not much space.
Small screwdriver and bit of wiggling to remove connector from bulb-not much space to work.
Bit fiddly to get fingers in to release bulb wire clip, pull up slightly and piece of cake.
Fit bulb looking in front of headlight to check alignment.
Clip goes back on, downwards this time.
reconnect wiring.
Check light works.
Slide cover back in from where you hid it and push on with long fingers. Doesn't fit tightly.
Pull string towards windscreen and clip goes on so much easier than it came off.
Refit battery cover.

I have changed one on the passenger side. It is best to remove the battery to give yourself room to work. The plastic cover is held in place by a spring clip. To remove, press hard on the plastic cover and slide the clip towards the front of the vehicle. Replacing the clip can be tricky, but I solved the problem by tying a shoelace to the clip, enabling me to pull it upwards and back into place.

Hi

I have a 2001 Alhambra and had to change a bulb on the front passenger side which involved taking the battery out so I could get at it. You're right, it is tricky and I had to removed the light cluster to get at it, but I just about managed it and I have very little mechanical knowledge
