why can i not connect to the router?

i have a router installed onto my desktop but i cannot pick up the connection on my laptop how can i fix this?

There could be a lot of things causing this problem. Is there a WEP key set up for security in the router? If so, are you sure you are typing it into your laptop correctly when it is asking for it? There is some things you should check in the router too, an example is whether or not the SSID is hidden or not. If it is hidden the laptop will not detect the wireless signal. There are also settings in the laptop that need to be checked. Is the wireless card in the laptop on? Is the wireless card set up for DHCP or do you need a statis IP address? These are a few things you can try
