Thankyou Nick. Your solution was indeed correct.

I have a feeling that the red button on the back of the machine is to reset a overheated element, simply because our machine failed to heat up after prolonged use.

This is most likely the failsafe device to prevent a destroyed element... or even fire.

I would also like to add that I was able to access the red button on the outside of the bulbous casing, rather than unscrewing the casing. A large circular red plastic button presses through the casing to the button inside.

Hope this works for others too, as its saved us from buying a new machine!

I has same problem.
I fixed the problem luckily. At the back of the drier take of the bulbous plate and facing it from the back the heating element is on the left. On the left hand side there is a reset switch (little red button) which worked. I would check the fan at bottom too. I found a bent bra wire which i think might of caused the problem.

I also have the same model of Candy tumble drier and have found that the heater element has broken which is why it's not heating. You'll see that by removing the bulbous plate on the back and then looking under the housing at the element. I would like to find a source for a new element but I'm in South Africa. I don't know if this is an old model no longer supported? If you know of a source, could you make a note on this site?
