i was driving my car when black smoke come out of my heater people have said it's the risister and people have said that it's the fan i want to try the risister first do you know where it is?

remove glove box to access resistor unit, worth checking it for dry joints as that was a problem with mine.

Had the same prob myself, heater unit which holds fan and resistor is under dash in the pasagers floor well, its covered with a sound prove material on clips, remove this unplug wire block and fan unit twists out, your prob lies in that unit. I ordered one from a breakers yard on the phone for £50
