HP psc 2210 Scanner light is stuck?

This has happened off and on from the moment I owned it. HP had me unplug the unit and then wait and plug back in. This has happened over the last year each time it took longer to leave it unplugged. Now that I am 18 days out of warrenty HP will do nothing at all but want me to buy something. I can't understand the person I am talking to, so I am a lack of information. I ask for a service center to take it to in Indianapolis, Indiana and the idiot gave me a shop in Wisconsin at a Comp USA. I really think buying a new printer would be cheaper than a week stay in Wisconsin. I am putting this thing in the trash as I have called all over Indianapolis and no one repairs them. If anyone can tell me how to make this work or to dismantel the light bar so the rest of the machine faxes, and prints let me know. email sassielas@aol.com

My HP 2210 has the same problem. Powering it off hasn't helped in the last few weeks, so before I toss it I figure I could perhaps open up the machine and help it with it's problem that it really created by itself, out of the blue!
As it's all plastics and hardly any screws, I can't open it without destroying the casing.
I'm going to trash it as well, and make sure I don't buy another HP printer, and advise anyone to do the same thing as well. I don't like machinery that has a life of it's own, and in this case quite a self-destructive one!
