The engine management light in my Peugeot 206 1.4 Hdi stays on all the time?

The engine management light in my Peugeot 206 1.4 Hdi stays on all the time. I have taken it to the dealers and all they have done is switch it off. Within a few minutes of driving out it comes back on again. The car stalls when I stop at traffic light but drives well when moving. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Hi guys. I just bought an 02 plate 1.4HDI 206 runs like a dream just had new cambelt kit fitted at 97k miles. the following day engine Management light comes on. It hasnt gone into get home mode still does over 2000revs. Sometimes can just be that the ECu needs updating....

try making sure the air flow meter sensor is working correctly and that the coil packs do not need replacing, or check the injecors and thriottle positioning see if that helps

I've had the same problem with my 406, you must not be scare mongered into decisions when you are not sure
The most insignificant fault will cause the light to stay on.
Fault finding is an art and you should always double check with two sources if they suggest something expensive.
In the end you must find a smaller diagnostics garage that will not charge you a load of fixed charges
Have the experience to interpret the information is a skill that is not that common

Further to the replacement waterpump and cambelt replacement the car still lacked power and the management light came on at 65 mph. The belief now is that the pistons shunted one or more of the camshaft lobes around on its shaft making the firing out of sync requiring a replacement camshaft (the cams are pressfitted on a separate shaft and extreme hammering could force one to slip???

beware this could be the start of many problems or none at all.
Mine came on if I drove above 65 mph then stayed on. The engine then lacked power often due to the engine management going to get home mode.
In my case power was lacking (foot to floorboards)and so far the cam belt jumped due to coolant pump failure now they are looking at the inlet manifold to try to cure it.

what year is the car
