It seems like there is a problem with the hose...
Take the hose out of the vacuum and check the little brass connectors on either side of the plastic hose housing, make sure they are not missing.
If they are ok, then re insert the hose into the vacuum, sometimes the hose is not seated right and taking it out and putting it back will fix the issue.
If it still does not work, connect the little power nozzle, and swivel the hose handle with the vacuum on, does the little power nozzle go on off, if so then the handle connections are dirty.
If swiveling the handle does not work, then there is most likely a broken wire in the hose, and you will have to get a new hose.
