broken cambelt on a ford transit?

cambelt broke on ford transit 2.5 t/diesel....is the tdc hole in the flywheel obvious cos i cant locate it...do i have to take the starter out? m reg

Remove No.1 injector and put a piece of wire carefully down the hole. When the wire is fully raised the piston is at Top Dead Centre. The hole in the flywheel should now be level with the opening for the crank angle sensor for you to put the correct locking pin in. You may want to lift your rocker cover and check your push rods. They are probably bent.

As James says, but if the van is Turbo the engine speed sensor will be in the hole and will need removing first.

no need to remove the starter as theres a hole just above starter but below the fuel filter, with the radiator removed you should be able to see it kneeling at the front
