how do i change the heater matrix in my peugeot 306?

My heater matrix is faulty. Steam is returning through my vents into the vehicle. A friend says faulty heating matrix. Any advice well appreciated.

the whole dashboard has to come out to get to the heater box there are bolts that go through from the engine bay that hold the dash in
