How can I stop my Ford Ka from stalling at junctions?

The engine on my ford Ka cuts out quite often especially when I am slowing down at a junction

Hi, my partners Ka had the same problem and all I did was remove the idle control valve ( 2 x M6 bolts ) and cleaned it internally with carb cleaner. Hey presto cars as good as gold and it only cost £4 for the cleaner and 20 minutes for the job. Hope this helps

The idle control valve its situated underneath on newer Ka engines. You will have to remove the manifold to get to it. No longer a 10 minute job im afraid.

hi eddie ,we had the same problem on our ka,it was the idle control valve ,it sits right on top of the engine ,secured by a 8mm nut ,and a multi clip wiring clip, ford wanted £70.00 plus labour,i changed it in ten minites and got a second hand part from a breakers for £10.00.you can buy repair kits for them but are not worth the hassle, you will see the difference straight away ,when you leave the wire unconected the car will turn over but not start ,that way you will know your at the right component.
