GP 760 Computer?

I have a Yamaha GP760 waverunner and was told that I need to enter a security code or reset the computer. How would I do this? I was told to jump the starter while holding the start button, but have reservations about shocking the electronical system. Currently, the ski does not crank when I press the start button, but it will move when I remove the positive lead hold the start and tap the positive on to the battery.

CORRECTION!!!!

The blue harness is under the SEAT, in the bundle of wires/harnesses to the left of the glove compartment.

To reset your computer's code, you don't have to do anything crazy like "shock" your system. Instead, just make sure your battery is fully charged and then follow these simple steps.

1) Open the front hatch of your waverunner and remove the bucket.

2) Disconnect the blue connector behind the front storage compartment

3) After the warning indicator lamp lights, press the "MODE" button for at least 3 seconds until the display states "CODE".

4) Select a new 4-letter code by pressing the A/B/C buttons in your desired sequence.

5) The display should say SET and the buzzer will beep 3 times and the warning light should turn off.

6) Reconnect the blue connector and replace the bucket/hatch.

That should do it...
