I bought one of these and I too can't figure out how to get the head off to replace the line on it. I went back to using my old weedeater for now lol.

http://www.poulanpro.com/node4043.aspx and this will help with the RTE115C Weed Trimer!!

IT has a Manual with this site also!

Michael is right, just feed it through the yellow hole. Make sure that when you are screwing it back together, you get the string into the groove.

Sam, July 2009
Feed the line into the center hole of the yellow cover and slide it between the seam of the yellow cover and the black cover.

Start feeding the line at about "10 o'clock" and push it as if you were feeding it clockwise. Don't let the directions mentioning "counterclockwise" fool you. What they mean is that when you are done feeding the line it will end up as if you had wound it counterclockwise.

I just did mine (6/09/09) and it works fine. The directions and diagram on Poulan's website look like they were done by someone who had never done it themselves.

If you go to www.poulin.com you can download a copy of the manual, thats where I got mine. Scroll down the right side to down load manuals- (click on the words not the arrow) A search box will come up. Type in RTE and hit enter. Pick the one you have. When you see roll 1, roll 2, etc that is your type number.

I have my manual and have worked for 30 minutes trying to do what it says. Weedeater is getting ready to get a nasty e-mail.

I have tried both websites and they are down.

Does anyone know of another place to find this manual?

Jeff, June 2008
The full manual for the RTE115C trimmer can be downloaded at

http://www.poulanpro.com/poulanpro/manualSearchResultsAJAX.do

Click on the appropriate word "view" above the language you want (e.g., "English") to begin the download. I suggest saving the manual .pdf file to a folder on your computer (as for me, I have little hope of finding my original print version!).

FYI, Weed Eater is manufactured by the company "Poulan" - that's why it was hard to find.

The manufacturers wont tell you how to do that, so when the line runs out, you have to buy a new one. No kidding.
