My Dial keeps turning and the water keeps coming in and going out?

The Dial on my Ariston AWD 12 keeps turning and the water keeps filling up and draining away. I have put new brushes in and it still keeps doing the same thing. It won't let me stop the programme or change it. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had problems with my Washing machine doing the same thing. In my instance it was the water pump. I replaced it and had no more problems.
