Sime super 90 no hot water?

Hi ...Central heating works but no hot water.
Turn hot water tap and water is flowing but cold.
Advice from Brit Gas is Heat Exchanger blocked - New part required and Power-flush (£650) to fix!
Local tradesman advise Heat Exchanger required (didn't mention flushing) but advise Sime now no longer trading and difficulty getting parts.
Is SIME now out of busines and if so is it worth trying to soldier on and fix this issue (or bite the bullet and replace) ? Professionals please advise.

If you can take front cover off you will see the diverter valve at the upper rear of the area you uncover. The diverter valve is a flying saucer type shape. On top of that are electrical cables in and a black plastic thing on top of the 'flying saucer'. Switch off the boiler and turn the black plastic around so that you can see a smaller black coloured flying saucer at the back of what you have turned around. Htis has a pin in the centre of it. Whilst it is turned around so you can see the smaller saucer, switch the boiler back on. Get someone to turn hot water on whilst you watch the smaller flying saucer. It should rise and touch a switch that makes the gas come on and heat the water. If it doesn't do this, the diaphragm in the diverter valve is probably damaged. You can replace the valve itself or for less buy a diaphragm to replace the damaged one at a lot less cost. You'll have to strip the valve down though to do it. Good luck

1. if exchanger was blocked, you would have no water. he has cold.
2. why fit new exchanger then powerflush, the problem is dhw not central heating, another way to get money.
3.powerflush a complete system for £450.00
4. sime parts are as easy as any other boiler.

check your flow switch, micro switch has good connection , diaphagm.

Faulty diaphragm
You can powerflush heat exchanger for about £80 as good as new. They only block due to limescale.
Has anyone been out to look at the boiler?
Has water lost flow pressure?
