What causes my victa mower to run out of fuel?

I have a victa 2 stroke mower, it starts perfectly but only runs for about a minute then dies, if i press the priming button the motor will run but then dies again. I have fitted a new diaphram to the fuel chamber and have cleaned the air filter, but the mower doesn,t seem able to pull through the fuel by its self. please someone help , this is driving me to despair.

The priming button is a giveaway to your problem.

Check the vacuum operated fuel pump. It's usually fixed to the end of the cylinder head. Typically just the rubber hose is loose (either at the pump, or on the back of the carby), but sometimes you need a bit of high temp sealant (manifold silicone etc) around the fuel pump thread. Good Luck!

There is a fuel filter inside the tank ( if you unscrew the on/off tap then the fuel filter is attached. check that this is allowing the free flow of petrol. It possible that you run out of fuel because the filter can't keep up with usage ie whats in the carby runs your engine for a minute or so and then the restricted filter flow cant keep up. Another posibility is that your fuel line is kinked causing similar restricted flow.
