I'm having problems starting my mk 6 escort 1.6 ghia. When I turn the key there is nothing. The battery and starter motor are fine. The engine isnt even turning over,and I cannot hear the fuel pump fire either. The PATS led doesnt light up at all. Called AA out and he couldnt find the fault, put me on a straight bar to tow home and jolted the car then it started. Im totally lost on what is wrong. Has anyone got any ideas?

Rich; Sounds like bad connections either at battery posts, or at other ends , eg. NEG cable end at engine block, or POS cable end at starter solinoid. Could also be other connections at solinoid or ignition switch itself.
