After a power surge in the street the alarm has frozen - the keyboard doesnt respond. I have checked the power and battery etc and all works ok, only time i have had any response from the alarm is when i tripped the tamper spring.

I have tried the usual reset etc but nothing and i have no manual.

I need to know if it can be re-set or is the alarm box fried....

any help would be appreciated.

pete, thanks, when you say engineer code do you actually mean 9999 or my alarm code?

try resetting the panel to factory default...
disconnect backup battery, switch of mains supply.
hold in the tamper switch on the panel .. reconnect battery and within 5 seconds of powering up press reset . reset . the sounder should then bleep. refit the cover, reconnect the mains. enter code 0123 and the system should go to day mode. now immediately enter the engineer code (prog 9.9.9.9.)
