ok cheers chris,it has no kick start though,so how wud i check plug with electric start?i'v had the battery on charge all night and i'v jus tried to start it,no luck.but the battery sounded like it was die-ing after 8 attempts.the battery in it now is smaller than one i had when own it previously.could it be wrong batt, and not enough power?i'm hoping i wont have to take her apart but its looking likely.i remember having dirty coil before, where would i locate this as garage fixed it last time, whats the method of cleaning it up,(cloth+wd40??)cheers 4anyone reading

hi,
have you tried the spark plug against the head this should spark when you kick it over! that will rule out your ht lead and coil as faulty. Secondly try the petrol trick . Thirdly if it still won't start then strip out the carb as mine was caked in solid two stroke oil from standing and just a little bit of dirt will cause jet and valve blockages
