i dont know if yours will be the same as mine but after changing my water pump ..thermostat ect .i found a bleed nipple at the right hand side of my heater box (under the bonnet) it looks like a tube that a pipe would slide onto but it is capped off at the end with a screw in cap..run the car till it is hot ..unscrew the end cap slowley untill the hissing stops and water flows..if theres no hissing the car isnt hot enough. let it run longer. this is hard to spot as it dosent look like a screw..its kind of like the top you get on a cigar tube ? this fixed mine in seconds (after spending over £!00 ) doh!! good luck.

Also first check you don't have an air lock in the system, especially if your temperature guage keeps going up higher than usual.

No heat inside the car is not usually connected with the radiator.

Check the flow to the heater (the small radiator behind the dashboard.) If the pipe to the heater is hot and the return is cold the heater matrix is usually choked up.

The problem is replacing it is a complicated job. You might have to take the dashboard out to get to it. Sometimes the heater can be removed through the glove box but it is probably a job for a mechanic.

Another thing to check is the control of water flow to the heater (if there is one?)
