Engine cuts out when engaging Blade clutch lever on honda hrb476c?

my honda hrb476c mower cuts out when i depress the blade clutch lever, it struggles then dies your help is appreciated thanks

I had the same problem.

Turned out to be the magneto coil to flywheel gap was too large (sounds obscure, but it fixed the fault and no problems for 2 years since).

The HRB476C is not a ride-on it is a power driven roller mower.

Let the clutch is slowly and if the engine falters ease off on the clutch and try again slowly. The engine also needs to be thotoughly warmed up.

My clutch has packed up completely and I am about to send it to a repairer unless someone can tell me how to access the bottom end of the cable which is very slack.

If it's an electric clutch it may be bad. It could also be a defective saftey switch under the seat. If the switch isn't working it thinks there is no weight on the seat and will shut the engine down if the blades are engaged.
