how can i fix my ford ka car lighter?

my charger works in my other car but not my for ka and nor does the cigarette lighter so i need to know how to fix it.

P.S. If you do decide to fit it yourself be VERY VERY careful. You will be working with currents that can kill you. Make sure you fit an in-line fuse and keep the fuse out whilst working

On a more constructive note, first check there is no debris in the unit. Once you have checked that, check the fuse. If the fuse is intact then borrow/use a multi meter to check that there is a voltoge getting to the wires behind the cigarette lighter. If there is, then go to a scrap yard and buy a new unit and fit it. If there is no voltage then things get complicated. You will need to run a wire (make sure it has the correct rating for the unit) from a power lead To the +ve in the unit(or run an appropriate wire through the bulkhead and connect to the battery) then run an earth lead to an appropriate earthing point. This should be no more than 40cm (15 inches) long. This should give you a cigarette lighter. If you do not fancy doing this yourself, pop along to your nearest modified car centre. They will probably fit it for you
