i have a misfire at cruising speeds 3rd 30mph 4th 40mph 5th 50mph. starting, under load or excelerating ok

Sounds like you have air getting into the diesel system somewhere have experiened this with an old endura diesel would pull with no probs but drive normally and it would misfire, maybe worth putting some diesel injector cleaner through the car may help if an injector is gummed up.
