this wicked method worked for me! however i got the same info from other sites but i must stress as dodgy as it may sound it really works, our problems were: we called out a council plumber and he replaced the ball cock in loft as it had ceased and tank was dry, he left and just said once the pressure builds it will be fine! LIAR lol we ended up with what looked like the same as b4 he came. NO water out of hot tap! so i tried this method and 2nd time of doing it the airlock cleared. i was scared of doing this because i didnt want to flood the loft or something silly. i left the main water run upstairs for around 6-10 seconds and no more.

it might be the pipe that goes in to the hot water heater it might be blocked!!!

Are you sure you do not have an airlock?

This is where you have air in a high point in the pipe preventing it for working. If so, the best way is to run a hose from the hot to tap to a cold tap running from the rising main (usually the cold tap in the kitchen. If you then open both taps, the mains pressure will force the air back until it escapes up the vent back to the cold water tank in the loft. You can then turn off both taps, disconnect the hose, open the hot tap and it should run.
